BDS are currently recruiting for an employment advisor in Bedford to assist service users with mild learning difficulties or mental health to retain or regain employment. You will offer person-centred advice and guidance to clients to provide them with strategies to manage difficult situations in the workplace or move into suitable and sustainable work and or learning opportunities.

Duties include
Assess eligibility for the service, employment potential and assist with career choice and planning.
Assist clients to negotiate work place arrangements in order to manage their mental health in the workplace, either in 1:1 sessions or by attending Employer meetings.
Provide training in personal and skill development areas, for example CV preparation, interview techniques, assertiveness.
Negotiate and secure employment, work experience placements and training opportunities locally for people with mental health problems.
Enable clients to benefit from employment, work experience placements and training opportunities through appropriate guidance, job introduction and support.
Monitor and review progress with the clients on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working to integrate disadvantaged or disabled people into employment and training along with experience of planning and running group sessions.

The role is working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. You will have a current DBS in place and be happy to travel to other sites including Huntingdon, leighton buzzard and Dunstable.

The role is ongoing in the first instance though there may be an opportunity for this to become permanent at later date for the right person. We are looking for people who are immediately available.
The rate of pay is in circa of £12.00 paye or £14.50 umbrella/limited
